The topic that I have chosen for my simulation research is
how to effectively use technology in the early childhood classroom. I have found that finding information on this
is quite difficult. There seem to be
many different articles out there but not many of them pertain to just the
early childhood classroom. This was an
easy topic for me to chose because it something that really perks my
interest. I love watching children learn
through technology and I am eager to find some more research on the effective
use of it in the classroom.
I have gained some new knowledge about research so far from
this course and feel a little more confident in myself in relation to this
class. I still am worried about the time
that it requires to conduct the actual research and report it. Through the readings thus far, they seem to
really break it down for us and help us find ways to maintain this task that is
sometimes daunting.
If any of you have any advice on my topic or research in
general please feel free to share and good luck to you all! J
I enjoyed reading your post and you made a great decision in this topic. In our school we got the hatch computer for the children and its amazing. The education experts at Hatch developed iStartSmart specifically for early learners, so that children can independently access the system and be monitored as pre-readers. Aligned to early learning standards (NAEYC, Head Start Framework) and various assessments (e.g. Teaching Strategies GOLD), iStartSmart preschool computers integrate with curriculums, assessments, and standards that you are already implementing in your classrooms (hatchearlylearning.com). I hope this web page helps you and I wish you the best luck in your topic.

Hi Lynette
ReplyDeleteI think that you selected a great topic as technology is a relatively new teaching strategy for all children. We use it a lot more with our students (Grade 1-12). I am amazed by how quickly the individuals with an Autism diagnosis are engaged. We are always cautious to make to technology about the social interactions in addition to learning academic concepts.
Great Post.

Lynette , I think this is a great topic. There is plenty of information on technology. If I come across any article I will send you the link.

Lynette-
ReplyDeleteWhat a great topic! I took a Raising Readers class last spring that touched on this topic, and both our Family Resource Center and our Library offer iPad classes for really young children, even 18 months! you can probably contact the Southington Public Library at www.southingtonlibrary.org if you want to find our where they got their information.
Hi Lynette,
ReplyDeleteThat seems to be an interesting topic. I am glad that you chose this topic for your research. I look forward to your final research report. I do not yet have any information to contribute for your research, but I will keep in mind your topic
Hi Lynette,
ReplyDeleteI like the topic that you chose. Technology is very important especially during this day and age. I often wonder if technology in early childhood would hinder the development of fine and gross motor skills, and or cause an increase in ADD/ADHD in children due to them looking continuously at a screen for an extended period of time. I wish you much success with your findings!
